Grasping At Straws

We laid on our Past's exhaustion
Raw emotions burned away by the will of the flesh
We cuddled and watched as last night was eaten by today
Still bundles of nerves, but Fear some how dominates all

With the light of today, our Fears rose with the sun
We each knew that our eternity was slowly coming to an end
Each minute passing slowly and painfully ripping us in two
We can't and don't trust this separation

The torture of mere seconds apart
The bombardment of outside forces
Building walls around us separately
Will you text or remember that you promised to call

Can I trust my own memories under so much strain
Seems I'm always in a rush to get nowheres
Clawing my way up while looking down
How could I be mad at you for maybe not calling

It seems the universe has committed us both to the same
Piling every aspect of life on top of Love
For the fleeting moments that we do experience it
We don't know how to take hold of Love's chains�
