a smile
for the half-eaten dove laying
glass-eyed and still
smile how
remainders smile
and under a borrowed sky
the heart
never learns
i can feign my entire existence
but i can't pretend i don't hear your perfect voice
resonate from the cafe
i am a burning jetliner forever in descent
you are
everything else

The ache and longing in this is palpable. "The heart never learns" is so universal, I think everyone can relate to that in some way and connect immediately with that feeling. Everything after that line just pulls you in deeper, a gravitational pull of heartache. It is beautifully poignant.
