Image for the poem diviner

you, taunted me with your tailored tongue
gratified my mind with eloquent faltering
your vantage point lulled my prudence
pulled me inside out
  with those extravagant fingers
held my gut in a butterfly dance
there was nothing more
           out of my control

my body rejecting its walls
my brain, a traitor to the cause
every caution and lesson learned, disintegrated
abandoned and vulnerable
you, stepped right in
opened me up
your lab rat, pinned to the bed
finding relief in a palliative cocktail
your kiss felt me crumble

i never felt so helpless
