Alone On Mars

arriving here by ion thruster
which propelled me in between
earth's ever shrinking blue/white luster
and this Martian scene

with whirlwinds dancing right before me
dust electrified
I'm in a cave to explore the
place where I now hide

from the storms outside raging
everywhere on Mars
temporarily I am caged in
hidden from the stars...

underground in the distance
a sparkle in the night
I move on with great persistence
to an unexpected sight

a forcefield stops me penetrating
beyond which it I see light
someone somewhere is creating
something very bright

all alone on Mars I tingle
before the great unknown
wondering if we'll meet and mingle
before returning home...
