Let Us Be Alive Until We Are Not

Her one
peculiar life
formed slowly like a pearl,
radiance years in the making.
Her many faceted features
caught his unsuspecting heart.

"How long will such beauty
last?" he asked the heat growing
at their edges. Her eyes answered,
“Let us be alive until we are not.”
