words on a page of dreams

It's a cold boring day
on the couch with the sniffles
I drink black coffee
and flick through an e-magazine
while my son plays on the floor
occasionally coming over for cuddles
the sound of a kids show
like white noise in the background

I'm reading the Australian magazine
Frankie
it's the kind of publication
I'd like to be in one day
if I could ever think of anything
interesting to say
or have some creation
worth showing
that was just the right combination
of unique art
and mainstream accessibility

But I never have anything
interesting to say
that I think people
would want to read about
that isn't written in verse
and my art is pretty but meaningless
it says nothing
but looks good doing it

So I read interesting articles
and interviews and wish
my life was bigger
and that I had something
bigger to say
