The Rain

They say I've got my head in the clouds
Yes, I've got my head to them now
I'm pleading with them to break apart
And become the shield for my heart
I normally use the rain
To hide away my pain
Because each time the sky cries
No one notices my eyes
I don't need an umbrella to protect me
The rain shelters me wet, see
The water that we drain
Is all one and the same
Then the wind comes to rescue my tears
Carrying them away along with my fears
And for a moment they disappear
Leaving me standing strong right here
So I just keep on telling lies
Wearing my disguise
The storm outside will hide
The storm going on inside
As long as I continue to blend
They'll never know the beginning and end
Because when the rain becomes your friend
It's much easier to pretend
So until I can get to a different place
I'll just stay out where I'm safe
And let the rain cover up any trace
Of evidence streaming down my face
