can we start over?

They say time heals all things  
and I don't know if those words  
are true or just something  
the wounded say to themselves  
 
I've lived through things  
I thought wouldn't get better  
and still woke up one day  
with lungs full of air  
and a smile for the sunshine  
 
Can we start over and leave  
these demons behind?  
let the past fade  
to lessons learned  
 
I want to let go  
of all the things I fear  
find happiness  
in the adventures to come  
 
But I've rocked up to the party  
with a house full of baggage  
and no where to put it  
so instead we step around it  
talk over it and and wonder if  
I'll ever take the time to unpack  
the things I've overburdened  
myself with
