See Yourself

Sometimes I become deeply emotional about things that I think others do not. I have always felt this way, but more so the older I get. I am having one of those moments right now so I thought I should share while I am emerged in the moment.
This will likely turn off people who are not as emotional as I or who spend far too much time rejecting emotion, but this relates to the current state of the world and as part of this world, I believe you should hear me out.
I hope you have an opinion of yourself and others that is generally positive. Self-esteem is everything, but there is an imaginary line that fluctuates from person to person about where self-esteem and pride collide or meld more fluidly.
This morning I watched Star Trek, Strange New Worlds and found myself getting into one of those deeply emotional moods because, as Star Trek so often does, this episode tackles the issues of today on Earth in a futuristic mirror universe sort of way. Through 3 separate stories they bring together some philosophical concepts that I have long pondered and written many poems about. In this episode the characters are given the opportunity to see a point of view from their adversaries perspective so they can work out an otherwise intolerable, or perhaps a better word, incompatible situation.
To some degree the story may be opportunistic but even if that is the case, it is relevant to our world today.
I have always considered myself a very open minded person, though I know some who think of me as a hard headed partisan who speaks in ultimatums . Sometimes I do that to express sarcasm but there are times I get so dam angry I want to play Thanos and wipe out half of the life on Earth because they don't believe the same things I believe in.
This really comes down to the differences between countries, cultures, religions, colors, genders and whatever else divides humans at any given moment.
The episode title is Spock Amock, if I spelled that correctly, and Star Trek enthusiasts will surely recognize that from the original series, but no matter, I hope you will take the time to watch it. Perhaps you will find something of value that goes beyond entertainment. Maybe it will allow you to see yourself. Ironically I was listening to a song titled "See Yourself" by George Harrison just a short time ago that always sparked the philosophical bubble in my mind. You might take a few minutes to listen to it before watching the show.
In any case I am not advertising the show or the music, I just wanted to allow you an opportunity to see through the eyes of someone else. Sometimes when I go really deep inside of myself, I find parts of me I did not know. Sometimes I have to fight it out internally before I can truly find the real me.
This is what I hope for you, see yourself...
