The Longing

I wish I knew that the last time
Would be the last time
That we actually got together
I would have savored the moments
I wish I would've done more
To stay around you
But really it was just a dalliance
You probably don't even think about me
The music in the background
The moaning and groaning
The conversations in between
All of this is now just a footnote
In our personal histories
I wish I knew that the last time
Would be the last time
You didn't leave me with regret
I was left longing
Wishing I was less polite
and more daring
Well the truth is
I can never go back to that time
All I have is nostalgia
And a few remnants
of your presence
I've seen a few after you
But really you're the one
I'm still looking for
I wish I knew that the last time
Would be the last time
Because you had to move abruptly
And no goodbyes were ever said
