Homophobia

“Homophobia”

When I become a dwindling memory,
Will you let me rest here peacefully?
Will you believe you’ll see me in Heaven—
Though I lived such life as a sin?

When you weep over my bones
Will you lay so many stones
As you lay your tears aside
As I embark on the awaiting tide?
They say I chose this life that killed me,
Dying, my blood is tainted, as they see.
But I’ve never slept quite so well
A softer pillow awaits me in the depths of Hell.

They say this is the cursed life that my body chose
And the seasons all were rife to pick a bloody rose.
I sense thee in the darkness, I bring the rose for thee,
It seemed this life was harmless, but the thorns were all for me
We saw summer skies that kissed the love we made,
I saw it deep within your eyes as the light began to fade
And the ashes of pestilence began to rain down,
And without resistance they put me in a crown
Of the same thorns that tore into my heart
And now the grave adorns the words that will depart
When all is forgotten, save for the petals that rain
Upon the rotten gods whose silent statues remain.

Maybe tomorrow I will be a divine parasite
Feasting on the dreams that kiss you in the night.
I’ll be a phantom there, and your heart I will woo,
Yes, my love, fear not, I shall come running home to you
In the form of a feather upon the breezes that roar
Over the tides where I wait upon the shore.
Where I wait upon the shore.
