lesser animal

i just want to nestle into the crook of your neck  
let my fingers run through the waves of your hair    
wrap my arms around all that you are    
    
you're so beautiful    
     
but i am a lesser animal    
unable to understand the goodness in you    
     
i could bring a broken sparrow to your feet    
maybe a mangled pair of doves    
     
maybe the head of a past lover
