Obesity

This is a very awakening write to bring into light, there are millions in society who suffer from the pitfalls of being obese or morbid obese.

What we need to ask ourselves is this condition from living a self-gluttonies lifestyle, could it be the stress of the day, gnawing at our emotions leaving us to overeat for mental comfort, in the solitude of the aftermath, all that remains are extra unwanted pounds we cannot shed quickly.

Becoming the poster face of failing fad diets, gastric bypass surgery, becoming anorexia or bulimic, paying out a large sum of cash for liposuction, succumbing to being bullied seen in the eyes of our thinner peers, or better yet, becoming the victim to our own healthily demise, when our weight gain becomes our own nightmare, bringing into play hospitalization.

Obesity Culprits To Take Into Consideration

Heart Disease, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, a deterrence on the kidneys. Walking, only to shortness of breath, and morbid or bedridden to enjoying life at its fullest.
Obesity is a complex disease involving an excessive amount of body fat. Obesity isn't just a cosmetic concern. It's a medical problem that increases the risk of other diseases and health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and certain cancers. There are many reasons why some people have difficulty lo

In adults, obesity is well defined as having a BMI of 30.0 or more.

What Is BMI (Body Mass Index)

Below 18.5 Underweight
18.5-24.9 Normal
25.0-29.9 Overweight
30.0 and higher Obesity

For most people, your BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. However, please be advised your BMI doesn't directly measure body fat, so some people, such as well-defined athletes, may have a BMI in the obesity category even though they don't have excess body fat.

As a twenty nine year old marathon runner, this is the bible I live by, in the winter months it is slightly off, until I enter spring training. Since my unfortunately fracture to my ankle, I have been lifting the chopsticks on Sushi, after doing my recalculations, my weight has increased by five pounds and BMI 23, it was once a be cool 20, nonetheless, it is expected, and since I am in training as I write it will usually drop by mid-June and lean muscle mass will account for those statistic as well.

To be obese has several medical problems worth mentioning, and to take into consideration if you do not monitor your weight gain.

Heart disease and strokes is a physician’s number one concern for his/her patient. Obesity makes you more likely to have high blood pressure and abnormal cholesterol levels, which are risk factors for heart disease and strokes.

Being overweight or obese you are at a greater risk to develop Type 2 diabetes. Obesity can affect the way the body uses insulin to control blood sugar levels. This raises the risk of insulin resistance and diabetes, on that note, to be diagnosed as a diabetic, you place more emphasis on the kidneys, in return making, and you become more susceptive to being placed on dialysis.

There are certain obesity may increase such as cancer of the uterus, cervix, endometrium, ovary, breasts, colon, rectum, esophagus, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys and prostate.

I would think after reading how obesity affects vital organs, from here on, most people would seek the assistance of a physician to be referred you to a Nutritionist, or given medically sound advice to sign up for a weight loss programs, with long term beneficial results.

In addition, if you can deter being prescribed diet pills, accept it and go the natural way of losing weight. Only when your weight is preventing the simple pleasures life has to offer, due to mobility, or it is a matter of life or death, than rethink those options.

Being obese does tend to increases the likelihood of developing heartburn, gallbladder disease and liver problems. Also if you do not know, people with obesity are more likely to have sleep apnea, which is potentially a serious disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep.

This fact was very surprising to me that being obesity increases the risk of developing severe symptoms if perhaps you become infected with the virus that causes COVID-19) You most likely will require treatment in intensive care units or even mechanical assistance to breathe, and being overweight grounds problems when breathing, and it places hardship on several organs such as the heart, and kidneys.

I would say those odds alone is a wakeup call for anyone to want to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and watch your weight.

No one is asking anyone to be a skinny minny, just be more conscientious of your weight and the enriching foods you consume daily to give you energy, increase your metabolism to maintain your stamina and please stay away the foods that breaks down to sugar, giving you that false sense of rush in the beginning and then leaving you flat and dissatisfied in the end.

A diet that’s is high in calories, and lacks in fruits and vegetables, or if you dine on fast food, laced with high-calorie beverages and oversized portions it would most certainly contribute to weight gain.

Having what I call a sedentary lifestyle, is a big culprit to gaining weight. Looking at computer, your tablet, and phone screen all day is what the medical community refer to as a sedentary activity. The number of hours spent in front of a computer screen is highly associated with weight gain, and that is only because we are eating to fill the hunger of the belly, consuming high fructose beverages while we sit, and yes, even drinking alcohol as we type, or just surfing the net for interaction, socializing.

The longer hours you are sitting at your desk the more inches the waist is expanding, or the stomach will eventually protrude.

In some people, obesity can be traced to several a medical cause(s), one I do know of, is Prader-Willi Syndrome and other conditions. And if you did not know, arthritis, also can lead to decreased activity, which in fact may result in weight gain.

People with Prader-Willi syndrome want to eat constantly because they never feel full (hyperphagia), and they usually have trouble controlling their weight. Many complications of Prader-Willi syndrome are due to obesity.

Various prescribed medications can lead to weight gain and in the refusal to exercise or not compensating to a healthy diet. Those medications which include various antidepressants, anti-seizure medications, diabetes medications, antipsychotic medications, steroids and beta blockers.

Therefore, if you are taking any of those medications, practice eating for a healthier existence, selecting foods from the food pyramid and I cannot stress the importance of exercising. Even if you have to brisk walk or run, the key is to just keep moving.

Depression, disability, shame and guilt, social isolation, and lower work achievement is what most, not all people who are obese suffer under, bringing into play undue stress, which is never good for the mind’s wellbeing.

Make sure your always get a restful night of sleep. Not getting enough sleep or getting too much sleep can cause changes in hormones and that does increase appetite. Conversely, you begin to crave foods in the wee hours of morning which is always high in carbohydrates, which will ultimately contribute to weight gain.

People often seek more high-calorie food when experiencing stressful situations.
I thought I would elaborate on a condition that has dire consequences on the body. Obesity or being overweight, this condition, that not only affect adults, it also affects children as well. And kids these days are very cruel to school age children who fit this criteria to the point if can lead to lethal outcomes or counselling later on in life.

I would suggest to any parent, have your child or children get some form of physical exercise if they are not participating in any extra curricula activities after school, and lessen the computer or tablet interactions for at least one hour for a night of social interaction with the family, rather it be family games, assisting/planting with yard work, reading a book, and for girls, making jewelry, arts and craft, karaoke, just to give their young and impressible mind a rest, and meaningful purpose.

To hear the laughter of a child at play is always priceless.

This has been a blessed medical article to write, and I truly hope my words will help or inspire someone along the way.

Be good to yourself and others, always
