Entombed

When you sealed my heart
In the crypt of your past
It was still vibrantly beating
In streams of ruby red
For love of you.

When you covered my coffin
With grey heavy stone
Did you not hear my lungs
Gasping for a breath
Of your love?

When you held a funeral
For my friendship
The open casket
Must have betrayed
My face of devotion!

When you committed me
To the asylum
Was it because
I’m still crazy in love
With you?

Hidden within this cage
Of one-way mirrored glass
I still hear your visiting footsteps
In the halls of memory’s museum…
Why don’t you let me out?

Is it because you know
My heart still beats
My lungs still gasp for breath
My mind still reasons
My body still aches
All for you?

My living soul
Doesn’t belong
In this grave you dug…
Don’t you feel it linked to yours?
You buried your own heart,
Too
That day.
