Sisyphus' Circus
The issue is not
that the boulder rolls back downhill
nor that it is difficult to push.
We have strength
and we can do hard things.
The problem is
there are so damn many boulders
and attending to one
means letting others slide
And those that are ignored
tick relentlessly
like failure bombs
And sometimes I'd like to
just lie down
and let the avalanche end me.
But I keep pushing,
pedaling furiously
like a clown
on a unicycle
on a tightrope
over a pit of lava
juggling puppies
And all I want to do is
cuddle the puppies
but I can't hold them
all at once...
