Image for the poem souls unfettered

souls unfettered

lost souls unfettered,
they writhed
and twitched
like block dogs
in heat

satisfied by their mutual indulgences

and temporal satiation

surely it was love in the moment

but still, they departed as strangers

all is silent today in these cold granite urns of ash

Author's Note
I had these thoughts while looking at ancient urns filled with cremated souls from a distant past.
