Storm (2022)

thunder and lightning, rain falling down
over the mountains, the sea and the town
electric storms rolling in from the west
crashing then leaving, raining much less

wind has subsided, once more the soft roar
Of traffic and trains, people and more
birds are returning to sing and to squawk
seagulls and too an occasional hawk -

magnolias blooming despite all the rain
Tulips emerging, it's spring again
showers in April, wind in the trees
The storm a past drama as it now flees

into the mountains away from the sea
flashing and crashing now quietly
off in the distance blown by the wind
as stillness returns from where it has been...
