For a Late Friend
I didn’t know you’d left
until I saw your tomb
stretched out in tears and memories,
a timeline of despair and love.
I wish I could have stretched
across the years of space
and been what you needed,
and been enough for you
as well as me.
I wish I could have been a man
and that you were still a woman.
until I saw your tomb
stretched out in tears and memories,
a timeline of despair and love.
I wish I could have stretched
across the years of space
and been what you needed,
and been enough for you
as well as me.
I wish I could have been a man
and that you were still a woman.
