Image for the poem twilight

twilight's kiss

my faded smile was full of irony
too much vodka and time had passed my lips
soft spoken words have turned to gutter talk so often now a days
words full of frustration
with so little time and nowhere to be

I ache in the midnight hours
reaching to touch my darkness
to know I am still alive

you lying by my side asleep
I wonder do you dream of somewhere better
with someone new or is it too late for that?

we are accustomed to each other
passion's last kiss still stings my lips
but too often my mouth is used for foul words and complaints
then I am the shrew you hate

I seek your company in the twilight
you hold onto me when all is silent
and my lips are your sanctuary

my faded smile still gets to you
making me glow within
once again the woman you love
