White Angel Roses
Am I walking or gliding
on this weeping wooden
crucifixion plank
connecting to
the other side
Am I alive
or is this
an iridescent death
do I dare peek
over the ledge
get lost in the
ebony abyss of silk
or should my aching
eyes march ahead to a
void shaped moon
filled with glowing
White Angel Roses
swaying to an empty breeze
I can’t feel or breathe
but I feel a
prick on my feet
from a lone
white thorned rose
flashing like lightening
beckoning me to pick
from this crying cross
And I do
I bring the flashing rose
up close to my nose
watch it disperse
into wings playfully
pushing me over
circling and steering
my descension dive
nudging to the left
pulling to the right
tearing through
the silk afterlife
back towards my body
with a slam of
orgasmic glory
twin moon eyes
crack and split open
to a hospital
room filled with
White Angel Roses.

Author's Note
My dad had a triple bypass surgery a few years ago. The nurses were amazing
through the whole ordeal. So comforting knowing he was well taken care
of when we were not there.
Just curious how many times they have
brought people back from the brink of death.
Also, must take a toll when they don't.

What to say? Modern medicine and those who know how to apply it are incredible. I liked the set up of the alternate world being interrupted but the pin prick of the rose to the real world. Very nice written volley between teetering on the precipice of living and not. I hope your dad is well. Great write. H🌷

He is back to his old self.

His heart was in great shape - just cleaning the plumbing is
how it was put to us.
He's been an avid golfer for like 20 years.
Sometimes he uses the mini carts - other times he walks the green.
When I was younger I use to tag along and drive him around.
Never his caddy though. LOL

Just felt like writing something about coming back when it is not your time. The song helped as well. I just got a vision when I heard her sing - Life and Desire - just took me to that wooden plank.
I have always wondered how it is when on the path
to that special place. Does it take long? Do you remember what happened?
When acceptance comes - then getting pulled backwards
into life. Time even - is it different?
Just my mind - in it's own way
helping me answer my own questions. LOL

When my dad had his bypass surgery it
went so smooth. No complications or red flags.
He followed all of the instructions for after care
and did great!!

back when on that journey to the other side. I like dreamfog:)
What can I say. I daydream all the time - especially when
music comes on. Thought about nurses as well. Big impact
on my fathers recovery. Doctors too but I have a special
place in my heart for the nurses who took care of my dad.
They were awesome!!

Dear Adel,
I love your poem and the context you mentioned in your note. I have the same experience as you do have with your father. At the very outset, let me express my deep and sincere thanks to dedicated and devoted doctors,nurses and other staff for taking care of the patients when a patient is not aware what was going with him because of his state of coma, unconsciousness or helplessness. My brother suffered with COVID-19 and serious complications. He was put on respirator and ECMO treatment. He was in induced coma and paralytic state for three months. He was fighting between life and death. We were helpless and praying day and night for his life. We also added in our prayers all doctors, nurses and staff treating him. He came out of hospital after four months. He is in rehab because of weakness and many other issue to bring him back to life. I must admit that what doctors and nurses do even mother can't do it all. I have seen doctors working more than 12 hours in a day and taking care of patients, Nurses sitting outside the glass room of the patient to record all numbers running on the screens and ensure the all the IVs are working fine. I express my gratitude to all the doctors and nurses. May God bless them and wisdom always prevails around them.

The feeling of helplessness. I am so happy your brother came out of that whole ordeal. Keep his spirits up and tell him to hang in there:)
Everyone is different - but following orders as far as aftercare is important. My dad followed it to a tee.
His physical therapy was tough but he did it and he was swinging
a golf club before he knew it. Gotta envision where you want to be
when therapy is over. It is a great motivator:)
