I Pray For Your Hands...

I pray you walk side by side. No one leads. No one follows. Fingers entwined, your lives laced together forever.

I pray your hands are always kind and gentle. Fingers running through her hair, caressing her face as you look deeply into her eyes and listen with your heart.

I pray your hands are there for her to lean on when she is feeling uncertain.
To support her, and be her strength when she is weak.

I pray your hands are there to pick her up when she falls.

I pray your hands are used to cheer her on, to be her biggest encourager.

I pray your hands show concern, comfort, and calmness.
True concern for her thoughts and feelings.
  Calming her worries, fears, anxiety.
Offering Comfort and compassion. Never clenched in a fist, unless protecting her.

I pray your hands nourish her spirit, as well as those inventive meals you cook, nourish her body.

I pray your hands pray for her.
When your hands touch her shoulder as you pass by…
Lightly cup her face as you lean in to kiss her forehead…
Hold her hand as you drive to the grocery store…
When they are young….When they are wrinkled.

I pray she feels endless love through your hands.

I pray your hands are always a blessing to her.

Author's Note
I’m a firm believer that our hands “say” a lot. I wrote a poem about Daniel’s hands, called LITTLE MAN, WHERE HAS YOUR HAND GONE. I thought it was appropriate to expand on that for his wedding. So…I wrote the above prayer.
