.....the Point of it All
“.....as time goes on, I realize
just what you mean to me”
and in those waning moments
I close my eyes as not to see
not to feel
nor to dream
don't want to deal with the
saddening, maddening reality
of the specter that lingers in the spaces between
you, him and me......
…...and though I know you wear his ring, his name
and my desires may well be wrong,
bearing pain,
scandal
and shame
“I just don't give a damn about him.......anyway”
as another day begins
and I awaken from my slumbers
once “Again”
subconsciously, only hearing what I choose
I can't win-but god, I'd hate to lose
to even close the door on the smallest chance
to simply "hold you"
20 years of loving , more than just a “Murphy's Romance”
as the chamber music begins to play
our intimate concert doth parlay
movement against movement into the night
encore and applause....Finé
tis the end of another show
and the warmth found
in the gradual rise of the house lights.....
…..and once again,
there is just you and I
the maddening crowd gone
the room's aura changing
right before our eyes
in these silent moments
hearing our hearts resonant truth
two against nature
feeling, vibing-not knowing what to do
touching hands, deflecting conversations
r we coming or going
to give into the quiet resignation
of a tender kiss, I do this knowing...
