Life Of Losses
it’s all very painful—
at a certain point
life becomes
a process of continual loss
things that are
important begin to slip
out of your grasp
one after another
like a comb
losing teeth
physical strength
hopes dreams ideals
people you love
fade
away
one by one
some announce
their departure
before leaving
others just disappear
all of a sudden
without warning
once lost
they are
gone for good
the things that
take their place
are worthless imitations
the search
for replacements
never goes well

Love the depth and viscerally stark truth here, KP. I very much relate to this outpouring of words, the know intense feelings that loss can generate and I admire your generousity in sharing that with us.

Sad but sooo true. Once gone there is no replacement.
Everyone is unique and when you loose someone who is
special in your life it is felt tenfold.
I don't think we would search for replacements. It's inflicting
self pain searching for the impossible. But just cause you know better
doesn't mean you won't.
Such an open write with this poem.
