Striving For?

Many obstacles may find you
As you travel through life
Lessons some hard to learn
Maybe can ease some of the strife

For some the biggest one is being humble
Taking even losing with class and grace
For victory isn't a given
Show empathy for others you may face

I find true what elders said
The same people on the way up
Will be around in the opposite direction
One may help you fill that cup

And remember to enjoy just living
For some things may never be again
Lighten up if you can
Never did hurt to show a grin

For as one of my favorites said in song
To search for perfection
Is all very well
But to look for Heaven is to live here in Hell

And while I am not sure that looking hurts
I do subscribe to the strain
Of trying to force feed perfection
Much like attempting to stop the rain
