Deceiver

“Deceiver”

If I could whisper through you
I would speak of such a simple thing
And, perhaps, speak the truth to you
And all the Hells behind its meaning.

From one deceiver to another—
Dying to tell the truth to make it better:
It truly has been an honor
To be frail, to be human in the face of your existence
To taste my naked vulnerability in your presence.
In my eyes are twin spirits, balancing my surrender.
Outside, the world is moving, but in here, all is sedated.
As if this suspended moment has waited
For us to enter—for you to tell me, in your deceiver’s way,
All the things I long to hear you to say.
Alas! that you speak no lies, but turn not to face me
Reluctant to allow yourself to embrace me.

Vanquishment reflects itself when I mirror our every conquest
Dare I fear myself? The glass! The glass shows but a guest—
Did you bring me flowers? They are beautiful and reflect
The seas spread between us that falter and disconnect
From what tides once bound our shores in the thunder
Of that aural storm that bridged our hearts in wonder
Of tomorrow, when we may lie below the cruel sea,
Within reach of what worlds yet may be”
O! for a sweet drought of that unborn air
Through the mystery of what may dwell there.
O! to be human with you—for the truth’s sake
That each day without you, I feel my heart break.
In your honor, I lay all that may be gold between
The aches of what should be, and what has been.
