rhyme & treason

“Handle them carefully, for words have more power
than atom bombs.”—Pearl Strachan Hurd

sharp words leap from my lips:
two-edged sword.
cut to the quick, she trips,
fatally floored.
i summon each vile line
sprung on wild wings,
but nor could i confine
their riotings.
script that escapes from lips too liberal
oft lines the crypt of some poor funeral.
