Weights & Measures
There are people
Dragging anvils around
On ropes & chains
Attached to necks
They make a most ungodly sound
As the anvils bounce
And bang
Into this & that
And through the dirt they go
Making lines & furrows
Of the sods
Like ploughs
And the heaviness
Weighs them down
And holds them back
Today & tomorrow
Sometimes they tangle
With other draggers & pullers
Chains & ropes & anvils
Through the dirt & snow
Up & down the hills & mounts
Beaches, rivers, creeks & oceans
To stick or sink or cross perhaps
The latter seldom so
