I Danced From Foot to Foot

She folds her wings
Like a prophet
Tucks me in
To her bed

Try to save yourself
They warned
From what
I replied

They just sank back
Into our distance
I heard them
As they went

And what was called
And what was true
Passed for something
Passed quickly away

Like her wings
That she unfolded
Pressing me
For consumption

Knowing my programming
Knowing my pre-plan
Aligning it with hers
So perfectly

It had to be untrue
On my lettuce break
