Life Flashes Before my Eyes

“Life Flashes Before my Eyes”

I watered flowers without seeds,
Given only to dead soil and to weeds.
Now in my eyes, life returns in reverse
And what was only hurts.

I beheld a scenery void of light
From a dreadful, unknown height.
No man or beast could be seen
But in the darkness, there between
The day and night of what was mine
Were the fruits and flowers, and the shrine
Of my hope no man could comprehend,
And the form I swore had been my only friend.

So, I must say goodbye. I see them die anew,
And as long as my faith is you.
They will die forever and ever
With no Heaven to treasure.
As long as I try to make you stay,
They will die forever and a day.
And in the clouds of sunrise, I
Left them behind to die.

And in the silent snow,
I see the coming of a shadow:
All the things I once had been
That your eyes have never seen.
And I wait for this shadow to pass,
But it fades into your grasp, alas.
Don’t go away, don’t kill the vision,
To take away what I have given…

My eyes are filled with anguish
And if I had just one wish
It would be for you to make…
The heart you chose to break
Would take nothing back,
But the tears are painted black
They’re painted black…
They’re painted black…
