Ghosts

the crumbled
walls behind me
start to blur and
fade away
as the ghosts greet
another day
shadows in existence
because of the light

as I drift upon
the sea of doubt
my soul’s sails are
ripped and torn
loyalty’s oars cracked
and splintered
the captain cries
abandon ship

spirits peer at me
from murky a depth
and I hide behind a
gilded mirror
mist forms from
the tears I’ve wept
the revenant are
a candle flicker
