Tell A Tale

Don't let honesty get in the way
Just tell the tale that makes my heart sing
Fill it with beings as wild as a stormy day
Let me believe that it's a tale told just for me
A history that never could have been
Fill it with black magic
And a love for the ages
Tell the tale and set me free
I need your story to fill my life
With purpose and righteousness
A reason to be alive in this time of dying
With a true heart filled with peace
I need to hear about heroic deeds and fresh faced wonder
Because my life has become yellowed with time
And all my old gods have fallen from the heavens
Into a heap at my feet
So please the tale of tales
So I might close my eyes and believe
And when the fire has burned down low
Whisper lies until I can sleep in peace
