Trailer Park Luxuries

Although my floors may be sinking,
My walls are full of dampness,
And the paint job is crudely done,
I take a deep breath
And remember thankfulness
For small luxuries.

My bumper clings for dear life
Held on by zippy ties
And stubbornness,
But the car is paid in full.
The gravel driveways
May be full of dips and bumps,
But I can roll in thumping
My favorite music
Cranked as loud as I please.
Overzealous factory speakers
Put their bass down deep
In my soul,
And no one seems to mind a bit.

I chuckle at the neighbors' loud voices
Coming through the thin walls
With the latest trailer park drama
Live from the comfy peace
Of relaxing behind closed doors.
Sweet solitude and freedom
To act however I please
Is polka dotted
With periodical stirring
Outside that reminds me
I am not alone.

I am counting my blessings,
However small they may seem.
The present is precious
And too fleeting to waste.
I open my mouth
As all shyness melts away,
And I sing to the walls
Eyes closed,
Momentarily lost in my
Own song.
