How to make a medicine wheel out of anything.
‘”The runner, covering the same route again and again, comes to think of that route as something which, transcending mere geography, is a kind of space time.” - Robert Grudin
How to make a medicine wheel out of anything.
If one were to
Fashion the firmament
In
Chalk
On
A sidewalk
&
Proceed
To
Dance -
Entranced,
They should ascend
Upon
A pathway
Of
Beginning, middle, end -
As
The metaphor
Becomes a mechanism
Of
Symbolism,
Fashioned
Fresh
In
Shadows and shades
Made
Of
Consciousness, subconsciousness, superconsciousness.
‘(I remember I used to run on this track. No one really knew how many laps constituted a mile. Some said this; some said that. I ended up making a determination, myself. I said five laps per mile. I used to run 35 laps, 4 or 5 times a week, religiously. I ended up really moving that up ran two half marathons on that track.
I would have the most beautiful thoughts and ideas, like interacted outside the spacetime continuum.
I perceived that my energy was being encoded into this “structure” , getting stronger and stronger, taking me deeper and deeper.
I thought of the idea of a medicine wheel… Which incorporates different forms of repetition, in order to achieve a state of enlightenment.
I feel like one need not fully understand the mechanism, in order for the mechanism to have efficacy.
Nevertheless…
There are methods, by which we might look deeper and deeper into the mechanism.
This author, Robert Grudin, really approaches a great depth of such observation.
In regard to the mechanism of the medicine wheel, he attributes a sort of projected metaphor, a metaphor projected upon space and time, which becomes a sort of foundation of the conscious and subconscious, a sort of launching pad for the spirt/ imagination/mind to frolic and explore higher realms of existence.
This is in line with the idea of “novel thinking”…
And how you sort of have to engage the conscious and subconscious…
That is the mechanism of the hypnogogic state, the state just between waking and sleep,
where your mind is better capable of engaging the different parts of the mind.
The thing of that, particularly, however, is that it can be difficult to bring the stuff back.
I’m also reminded of the concepts of Gurdjief.
At that time, many people were in search of a guru, and Gurdjief was more than willing to comply.
One of his main methodologies was using hard labor, in order to free the spirit.
I totally understand this mechanism, as I used to do this very thing, when I worked in the concrete industry,
as a youth.
Those concepts I applied also to really everything.
I was always able to use anything, really, to depart the physical form.
But Gurdjief…
Yes, essentially rich people would pay him to make them scrub floors and such…
This is all very interesting stuff…)
