A Front Row Seat

She's a pretty girl
About the age of twenty
When it comes to spirit
She's got plenty
She's either fearless or so naive
Maybe she's got a couple aces hiding up her sleeve
She thinks she can go through hell
And leave it heavenly scented
She takes life like it's a new car
And drives like it's rented
She just wants to change the world
She's that type of girl

::chorus::
And I want a front row seat
I want to see her versus insurmountable odds
I want to see her turn the tables on them all
I want to see them break in two
Falling like dominoes
Sinking into the blue
She thinks she can do anything
And I want it to be true
Yeah I want a front row seat

I'm an old man now
But I used to be young
We thought we could change the world
With the songs that we sung
We were both fearless and naive
Thought we were edgy with our cigarettes in our sleeve
If we changed the world a little
Old people like me changed it back
We lacked the perseverance
You need to stay on track
I hope she learned from our mistakes
I hope she's got it in her to do what it takes

Chorus

I hate to say it
But my generation failed
Somewhere along the line
We got derailed
I hope things go better for you
Now let's see what you can do

Chorus

Author's Note
I hate to put the burden on the young, but I'm afraid it's up to them to change the world for the better. My generation failed big time. Good luck. I'm rooting for you.
