Image for the poem One Christmas for two

One Christmas for two

together next to our tree
laughing at past memories
music plays in the background
it takes time
a piece of the soul
yet, I give it
and you take it
breathing fire into it
for I can lay next to you
forever warm

this year has been dreadful
at times we both felt lost
you built me up
so gracefully
much stronger than I am
not like any other
you have a mind
walk like a queen
wonder what I did
to deserve such a lady

before I had you
thought lust was better than love
you showed me
it could be one and the same
your silhouette screams
come and get me
as the snow falls
we hold each other in peace
no worries
no obligations
just the way life should be

I see other men
restrained with conditions
all you ask from me
is kisses and hugs
the daily loving touch
nothing could be easier
I'm a hard worker
so you can count on me
to provide
to cherish
for as long as we live
