As if volcanic offerings af'fording little lava
despite climate changed Winters featuring
few if any fluffy f l a k e s now these dayings . . .
what joy to the world is there when
cheapskate Scrooges with minimalistic sayings
cling to their dreadful penny weighings

I really liked the phrase "penny weighings", which conveys the image of the miser beautifully.

Thank you, Turpin. I kept thinking about how important it was for Ebenezer to withold that half penny for extra bread at the restaurant before Marley's visit - how satisfyingly heavy his pocket of jjngljng coins must have been.
Maybe they think their pearls can appreciate in value kept hidden away?
