Rememberance of Snow

What is a dream but a future memory
What is a seam but a suture and
A past treachery

He stands at an intersection
Between these two lovers
Interpersonal inspection
Personal dereliction from a brother

He sees a chance to be free
But at what cost to thee
He can’t bring a remedy
Nor calm, quiet, solemnity

As the snow falls onto loose earth
He knows its a hex, a curse
To not be claimed instead
To live in maimed undeath.

Author's Note
This poem is about an old friend of mine that died at an early age. At the time I was young and didn't understand, and instead of being there for her, I left her life in hopes that I wouldn't be hurt. Now many years later I can't help but wonder what it would have felt like for her, and if being there for her would have made any difference.
