the thief of always stole my heart
placed a part of my soul in the body of a pup
I didn't know a piece of me was missing
until he cuddled into me and gazed at me adoringly

his personality perfectly picked by the universes
a sweet disposition full of fire
I loved him from the beginning
I laugh because his traits are so like my own
strong willed and stubborn but tempered with love

he walks me everyday
and shows he's paying attention
he's a stern master in obedience training
he leads the way as a natural dominant
I'm his mommy but he let's me know he's looking out for me

a silent observer of my day
we wake up at five am when he says it's time to play
he says it's almost past my bedtime he's ready to go to sleep
he rests on my pillow when we say goodnight
