when time stopped, the music played

I don't know when I stopped living for the future
I don't know if I've ever lived for the future
I've always lived for something vague

I've never been the praying kind
at least not to any kind of diety that has a name
but there was that time I prayed for change
and namelessly it came

I can't say with certainty that I love my life
but I can say that right here right now
I don't hate it

I dance in this perfect limbo
knowing it's going to end
and it makes no difference
to the mood of the music
because in this limbo
I am
for this exact moment
free

Author's Note
This peace is about being in the middle of change. Going backwards isn't an option. Going forward is terrifying, but somewhere in the middle, just being in the middle, between where you were and where you're going, there is a sense of peace, not that everything is okay, but that for this moment everything is temporarily okay.
