Atmospheric River

the steady percussion of rain falling on
the sheet metal roofing of sheds just beyond
silica sand vitrified into sheets
just open enough for the natural beats

created by rivers that flow in the sky
falling to Earth far away and nearby
making the sounds with which I'm entranced
of raindrops falling on roofs to then dance...

feeling the breath of the wind on my skin
lying in bed, outside coming in
a refreshing caress from the air moving by
the waters of life on winds that now fly

from the vast ocean onto where the land
emerges as mountains that seem to expand
beyond the horizon, beyond what I think
while listening to raindrops dripping to clink

on the sheet metal roofing of sheds just beyond
where forces of nature are singing a song
created by rivers that flow in the sky,
breath of the ocean on skin a cool sigh...
