Riptide

Deep inside my soul
darkness rolls like thunder
lightening strikes my heart
riptides pull me under.

Turbulent emotions suck me
further and further down
if I can't claw myself away and surface
I know I'll surely drown.

The pressure build and builds
crushes me in a firm grip
the more I reach out for the light
the further away it seems to slip.

The cold invades
numbs the senses
but it doesn't ease the pain
I fight oblivion with all I am
the struggle is in vain.
