The Edge of Light

Your lips sang
songs taught by elders
from their days of searching for love.

My hips felt
ancient rhythms
that brought us all to life.

My lips kissed
the thrum of carnal songs
with promised pleasures
from the dances of ancestors.

Our flesh holds
firm within bonds
born of souls just beyond the edge of light.

Author's Note
My recent love has ancestral connections to the Hohokam tribe in New Mexico. I like the sensation of his ancestors' approval of our love. I can almost see them dancing at the edge of view when we're making love.
