Tell me in truth if you will shed tears
On the day that my mind disappears.
When I lay me down in my circle of Hell
What will you say, and who will you tell?

Dionysus! Long hast thou lain in wait.
With what voices didst thou create
Labyrinthine the fields of eclipsèd suns
That shine on songs of thy many tongues?

Thy kingdom of beauties invades me
With the blushing of a rose that shades me
That blooms, that blooms forevermore
In the shadow of thy palace door.

Adorn me in voices, a robe of despair,
Let the silhouettes of thy bodiless air
Bear me, beloved among all I hate
Beyond the graves of the iron gate.

Such woe is mine to bear, such woe
In laughter to the Earth I leave below.
Am I weeping? Do I weep, fair Dionysus
At the grave of he who never was?
