Thing in the Corner

The thing in the corner
An exiled sojourner
Not of this world
Its lips are curled
Bleak eyes of despair
But is it even there?

The thing in the hall
Incredibly tall
Gaping jaw
Wide maw
Staring ceaselessly
I stand fearlessly

The thing behind the curtain
It's there, I'm certain
Scraping it's talons
Observing my talents
I sing until its ears bleed
I will not allow it to feed

The thing behind me
Or perhaps inside me
I've decided a plan
To rid my home of its hand
A concept, a choice
I will not use my voice

The thing in my home
I was never alone
But it is now weak
Its precense is meek
Replaced with mundane
It feels no pain

The thing in the corner
A childish mourner
Simply annoyed with my expertise
I have dispelled the horror with ease
Paranoia no longer
Of the dark I've grown fonder

The thing in my head
Far away from my bed
If you may find yourself this way
Simply do as I say
Replace your fear with something you know
Replace the thing, and surely it will go

The thing under the table
Is no longer able
It cannot bother me so
If it is only a small bug or crow
A towel or cat
A bag or placemat

The thing in the corner
A worthy sojourner
Valiant effort denied
Fearful tactics survived
But they prove ineffective
Underneath my method
