Reconciling Ledgers
To invest in desire is not a casual decision.
In him, I placed my wealth in hopes of gain.
In his child, I expressed faith in our future.
I mortgaged all that I was against his promissory note now in default.
Did not the gods of creation, whoever they may be, prescribe our lusts and give them value?
I severe myself from past indebtedness.
Today, I am free to offer my flesh against yours for our pleasures without concern for the reconciling of ledgers.

I feel the poignancy of the reflection when one considers the commitment you gave to one person who no longer keeps their side of the bargain (the 'promissory note now in default').

I think divorce is always hard, I remember watching my parents go through it but sometimes it is so necessary. I could feel the loss expressed when you have invested so much of yourself. Now that you are paying off that mortgage you can be free to explore and really find yourself once more. A new lease on life with the excitement and passion we all crave and need to fulfill.

Pleasure is the key in an affair. Responsibility and duty is prime in relationship. Freedom comes in the absence of all.

This comes across like an unsuccessful business transaction.
It obviously went far beyond that in terms of the duration of the relationship.
Maybe it's the intensity of those emotions with the words being given life.
