Beginning With an Ending
His eyes were new to me, but kind and hopeful.
They followed my face as I knelt.
I wondered if drinks after dinner had been a good idea.
His hands on my sleeveless shoulders were warm and reassuring.
I felt a rush of blood in my cheeks wondering what my daughter would think.
My hands felt a heaviness, weary from the past fifteen years.
I bowed and took a slow breath to calm the pounding in my chest.
Then I looked up to him as my fingers moved with care.
I slid his foreskin down to reveal a blushing firm dome.
I heard his breath shake as I kissed the length of him
and let my tongue slide along smooth skin,
stretched taut by his desires.
I knew where this night would lead.
Though the papers had been signed weeks before,
my eyes moistened as I accepted the ending of my marriage.
