I Want to be a Debutante

I worried all Sunday
it's supposed to be fun-day
about this coming Monday
psyching myself up
just to get the fuck up
groggy and bleary eyed
swimming against the tide
on my third cup of coffee
that tastes like bitter toffee
it's the start of a new day
but I don't need the pay
lets just go out and play
yes sir, no ma'am
work is just such a scam
pull your finger from the dam
our money's just on loan
the government takes all we own
I think I'll go work for myself
putting my life on a shelf
working any eighty hours I want
My freedom I would flaunt
if I had any time left to taunt
I want to be a debutante
hanging out in Martha's vineyard
it really doesn't look that hard
surrounded by my body guards
it's the start of a brand new day
lets just go out and play
sailing on the bay
