Unsnapped and Open for the Taking

I loved each of them
in my fashion until
I’d gathered all their
sparkling coins
and traded them
for pleasures.

Those empty coin purses
from my past
lie beneath us now
as I gather
all that you will offer.

Yes, it is beautiful in this moment.

You are young,
shining with newness and beauty.
I shine also, but with this seasoned probe
I press into you,
portraying something resembling
love.

Your eyes
betray your thoughts.
No, you have not found the love of your life!
You've not found the man of your dreams!
I’m a treasure hunter
and you’re a lovely purse
full of glittering coins,
unsnapped, and opened
for the taking.
