in the soft milky light
of autumn
she seeks
through the blinds
dancing shadows
leaves once soft and green
turning turning turning
rustling softly
in winds cold breath
she seeks
shadows that mingle
between the light
their earthy scent rising
where leaves gather
in frosted wonder
she seeks
jeweled amber
firey reds
scarlet kisses
each smoldering
to the calling of change
she seeks
steadying
of her hands
against the chill
where the sun
lingers in warm corners
of tree trunks
her hot breath
forming cool clouds
she seeks
heartbeats
of the universes
rhythm
that she might
join in its raucous
welcoming dance
where she can
mingle among
the falling
of time
she seeks
maps
hiding unimaginable secrets
in still swollen veins
life blood of Nature's children
whispering forgotten songs
she seeks
the one that holds on
brown and waving its
rough dry hand
against the sky
holding its promise
to return
again
again
again
