THE SILENT STILLNESS

Early in the morning
when the sky
is still asleep,
thoughts which float
into your mind can
probe very deep.

So you watch them,
see their patterns as they
circle through the scenes,
you try not to hold on
to them, or work out
what each ones means.

You just be inside
your body, feel which
parts are a bit tight,
with your eyes closed
you breathe deeply, to
awaken inner sight.

As you begin to feel
the lightness of muscles
no longer flexed,
you will notice little
spaces between one
thought and the next.

It’s these spaces
in-between that calm
your inner core,
giving you the
strength you need
to open up the door

To a self which seems
to understand the
body needs the mind,
but in the silent
stillness it’s the
spirit we can find.
